The story of Teatergrillen
Teatergrillen opened in 1945 at Nybrogatan 3, next door to the Royal Dramatic Theatre, which gave it its name. It was founded by the restaurateur Tore Wretman as a sister to Riche.
In 1968 Yngve Gamlin gave the dining room a theatre-inspired makeover that survives almost untouched, and the restaurant itself counts it among the oldest intact restaurant interiors in Stockholm.
The cooking is classic Swedish with French influences, with fish filleted, meat carved and apples flambéed at the table. Turbot, salt-baked entrecôte and vendace roe are long-standing favourites. Each year the Wretman Days invite a guest chef to reinterpret Wretman's cooking. Teatergrillen is part of the Svenska Brasserier group.
