Drop Coffee Roasters

Café · Vegetarian-friendly · Södermalm · Since 2009

On a clear day in June the terrace has sun 07:00–16:50, about 10 hours in total. In short: morning sun, sun at lunch and afternoon sun.

The story of Drop Coffee Roasters

Drop Coffee began in 2009 as a coffee bar near Mariatorget on Södermalm. A year later it started roasting its own beans on a one-kilo roaster at the back of the shop. In 2012 it moved up to a larger Diedrich roaster in a separate facility and began supplying cafés and restaurants.

Since 2018 the roastery has been in Rosersberg, north of Stockholm, and is certified organic. The coffee bar at Wollmar Yxkullsgatan 10 is still in its original spot, though it has grown over the years. The coffees on offer change almost daily, as espresso or filter brewed to order. Co-owner Joanna Alm is a three-time Swedish Coffee Roasting Champion.

Sol vid lunch, according to Stoligt

Times look wrong, for example because the terrace is on the other side of the building? Fix the location in OpenStreetMap and Stoligt will follow at the next update.

How Stoligt works it out

Every ten minutes we draw a line from each terrace toward the sun and check whether a building or hill is tall enough to block it. Building heights come from OpenStreetMap and ground heights from Lantmäteriet, the Swedish mapping agency. The times assume a clear day, so clouds are not included here. They are on the live map, which shows today's weather.

Trees, parasols and awnings are not in the model, and we don't know exactly where on the pavement the tables stand. Treat the times as an educated guess, often accurate to within ten minutes.
