The story of Halv Grek Plus Turk
The name Halv Grek Plus Turk ('Half Greek Plus Turk') first appeared around 1990 as a pop-up at Felix, above Fasching on Kungsgatan, where meze came out on big trays. Behind it were Elias 'Saile' Eliasson and Uluc 'Bullen' Telmen, whose parents came from Greece and Turkey.
The restaurant opened properly in October 1996 in the former Est Est Est premises at Jungfrugatan 33 in Östermalm. Bullen's younger brother Umur was involved from the start and their mother Yurdagul helped in the kitchen. The chef Claes Claesson became a partner soon after. The room was designed by Peter Hallén and the bar by Thomas Sandell.
The food is the house's own take on eastern Mediterranean cooking: small meze plates to share, grilled dishes and desserts such as baklava.
