The story of Chokladkoppen
Chokladkoppen has been at Stortorget 18 in Gamla stan since 1997. It is a small café with tables out on the square, a short walk from the Royal Palace.
The house was probably built as early as the 1520s and keeps medieval masonry over three floors, with a stepped gable facing the square. In the 1620s it belonged to the skinner Hans Seyfridzt, which is why it is still known as Seyfridtzska huset. Its yellow facade dates from an 18th-century renovation. The neighbouring house to the left is home to Café Kaffekoppen.
Chokladkoppen is known as a gay-friendly café, with a rainbow flag outside, and has long been a favourite with Stockholm's gay community.
