The story of Ulla Winbladh
The house at Rosendalsvägen 8 was built for the great Art and Industry Exhibition held on Djurgården in 1897. Architect Gustaf Wickman designed it as a pavilion for Reinhold's steam bakery and patisserie, commissioned by the baker August Reinhold. It is one of the few exhibition buildings still standing.
After the exhibition the pavilion carried on as Reinholds konditori. In the mid-1950s the café was turned into a restaurant and named Wärdshuset Ulla Winbladh, after Ulla Winblad, a character in Carl Michael Bellman's songs.
The house is also where the French-style literary variety show took off in Sweden, with performers such as Lars Forssell, Ulla Sjöblom, Monica Nielsen and Per Myrberg. Today the restaurant belongs to Melanders Group and serves traditional Swedish home cooking.
