The story of Torpet i Orhem
Torpet i Orhem is a café at Orhemsvägen 135 in Sköndal, in the sparsely built district of Orhem in southern Stockholm. The name Orhem first appears in 1409, referring to a croft that probably stood where Orhems gård is today, a short way from the café.
According to the café, coffee has been served here for a very long time. Before water pipes arrived, water was carried in barrels and cans and heated in large kettles, which still sit on the kitchen shelves. The café also remembers an elderly woman who served coffee through the kiosk hatch.
Today the garden has hammocks, toys and a reading shelf, and the Kulturcontainern stage hosts events. The café is open from April to September and during Advent. Bus 180 stops at the entrance.
