On a clear day in June the terrace has sun 07:00–20:30, about 13.5 hours in total. In short: sun at lunch, afternoon sun and evening sun until 20:30.

The story of Strandbryggan

Strandbryggan sits on Strandvägskajen near Djurgårdsbron and has been here since 1989. It began as a boat rental with a simple beer café and grew over the years into a restaurant with a large terrace on the water.

Before the summer of 2023 the whole place was renovated and a new upper floor was built. At the same time the restaurant took a Mediterranean turn. The terrace looks out over Strandvägen and Djurgården.

Times look wrong, for example because the terrace is on the other side of the building? Fix the location in OpenStreetMap and Stoligt will follow at the next update.

How Stoligt works it out

Every ten minutes we draw a line from each terrace toward the sun and check whether a building or hill is tall enough to block it. Building heights come from OpenStreetMap and ground heights from Lantmäteriet, the Swedish mapping agency. The times assume a clear day, so clouds are not included here. They are on the live map, which shows today's weather.

Trees, parasols and awnings are not in the model, and we don't know exactly where on the pavement the tables stand. Treat the times as an educated guess, often accurate to within ten minutes.
